Details – The Toshiba 32BV701B is far from cutting edge. There’s no Freeview HD, smart functionality or LED backlighting but it is the cheapest full 1080p HD TV we could find that is made by a reputable brand. At just under £230 the Toshiba is by far the best value 32 Inch 1080P TV available at the time of writing this post.
It’s unlikely to satisfy those that take home cinema seriously but is perfect for a kids room, small lounge or any other bedroom for that matter.
Considering it’s modest price the Toshiba 32BV701B still manages a comprehensive set of connections including 2 HDMI sockets, PC in, digital audio out and also component video in. As such you won’t have any problems connecting consoles or DVD/Bluray players.
Even if only for it’s 1080p support the Toshiba 32BV701B offers superb value for money and hopefully signals the end of the 720p TV’s typically found at this price point.
2) Sony KDL32EX523B
What we like – LED Backlit Full 1080P HD, Freeview HD, Smart Enabled, Ultra Thin

Details – At just under £350 the Sony KDL32EX523B is over £100 more than the Toshiba above but is a more modern TV in all respects and boasts a feature set that goes some way to justify its price.
Firstly, the full HD panel found in the KDL32EX523B uses Edge LED technology which not only improves colour reproduction and contrast but also enables the KDL32EX523B to be far thinner than TV’s using traditional backlighting.
You’ll also find both a Freeview HD receiver and also smart functionality meaning that you can watch HD channels such as BBC HD and can also stream web based content directly to your TV.
At a best price of just under £350 the KDL32EX523B is the best value, fully featured TV we could find. It’s a better choice for home cinema enthusiasts and those that are likely to take advantage of the smart features.
