Details – The Samsung UE40D55220 doesn’t feature the 3D support found on the Toshiba above but it does excel at 2D picture quality. The images produced are vibrant and crisp and some of the best we’ve seen on any TV under £800, let alone at the sub £500 price the Samsung UE40D55220 is available for.
It’s party piece is the excellent “smart hub” user interface which massively simplifies the selection of sources, programmes and apps. It is without a doubt the most accomplished Smart TV interface currently available and boasts 70+ downloadable apps, a decent web browser with flash support, Skype calls directly from your TV and of course both iPlayer and Youtube access.
At the time of writing this post the best deal we could find was just under £480 from John Lewis. It is possible to find the Samsung UE40D55220 slightly cheaper but the full 5 year guarantee provided by John Lewis justifies the slight increase in price.
